About the Tithing and Stewardship Foundation

History

The Tithing and Stewardship Foundation continues its almost 100 year effort to promote the practice of solid stewardship and tithing. The Foundation was formed by a group of lay persons, and its basic funding comes from a trust established by founder Thomas Kane.

Recent Developments

Initially, the board of directors was made up of clergy and laity representing several denominations. In May of 2006, the board donated the Foundation and all of its assets to the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), with the understanding that LSTC would continue to keep alive the goal of stewardship and tithing education, information and practices. Over the past several years, LSTC has been updating the Foundation’s publications and resources, developing workshops and a seminary-level course for laity, clergy, and seminarians, and refreshing the organization’s website. Please browse this site, participate in our offerings, send questions, and update your own resources. We welcome your feedback.
